Incredible photos, and also I was completely awestruck seeing the title of your post. Between yesterday and this morning, I wrote a poem called “Below the Fire Water.” Feels almost insulting to the universe to call that a coincidence, especially after chatting with someone on Substack yesterday about coincidences like this.
I’ve had these photos since late May and have been dying to share them but life…
I literally did not have any “name” for them until I started putting the photo essay together this morning.
It was all spur-of-the-moment and rising suddenly to the surface as I was creating it.
And when I entered it in the title block, it was all so matter-of-factly done.
Monday night I was out until 3 AM photographing the Aurora and Perseids meteors, which are the closest representation to fire perhaps the universe can send us…short of a life-altering comet!
Very beautiful, very unusual. I’ve never seen anything like this. Do you have other filters that do other colors or other designs? This is my first time seeing your work. I really like it.
To note, there is no filter creating this. It’s just how I move the lens with the scenery, atmospheric conditions, and the light as my accomplices.
I capture in RAW and then edit in Lightroom according to where the vision takes me as I edit. Just basic elements of image editing, no layers or filters from Photoshop or on the lens.
Another series that is similar to this is linked below but I’m creating abstract interpretations across a wide variety of genres with Paints With Camera.
OMG, Amazing!
Thank you Elena.

Heavy stuff.

Thank you for the positive vibes!

It’s all very experimentally-driven art.

Very interesting images Joe! I've seen many Acadia NP sunrise photos and these abstracts are so unique and captivating!
Forgot to say that this is the absolute best compliment I could've ever received about the art emerging from inside me.
Thank you @Pamela Leavey.

'Fire water' is right - what a reward for waking up early and trying to see things differently. Some absolutely beautiful shots here.
Great use of the morning!
